Last week I had my first ultrasound screening at week 13. It was also the first time that I met my obstetrician who is an Indian lady with more than 50 years of experience delivering babies. I was lucky in the sense that she will still deliver for me before she stops delivering baby next year June. The purpose of the screening was to check if my baby will be at a high risk for Down syndrome. At my age, the probability is 1 in 220. The test requires a combination of blood test (which I did in week 10, the blood sample was stored in the hospital since then) and ultrasound. The nurse had to call the hospital when the ultrasound was done. I was so relieved when she told me that my result was 1 in 1700. That means I don't have to do the amniotic test. I am getting paranoid with needles now...
It was a nice evening to Pat & Willem's house for Raclette (joining us also Vivi & Thomas, Canjoe and Jeff). It was our very first time, and we loved it. After all, we are great lovers for cheese and potatos ; )
